13 step by step Sunset Photo Manipulation Tutorial in Photoshop
Does your photo look boring? In this Tutorial, I’m gonna show you how to change overcast photo into an awesome photo in Photoshop – we are going to add Sunset to a dull sky easily & quickly using this 13 step by step Sunset Photo Manipulation Tutorial in Photoshop.

So let’s get started!
1. Crop the Clouds
The first thing to do is open the images that you’re going to use. So let’s start with your cloud image. Since we only need the clouds, use the ‘Rectangular Marquee Tool’ to crop the clouds, just box the clouds then press CTRL + C to copy it and then go to your model image and press CTRL + V to paste it there.
2. Position the Clouds
Once you’ve pasted the clouds on your model image, position clouds image exactly on the horizon.
3. Duplicate the Clouds Layer
Before we duplicate the clouds layer, convert it to Smart Object first. Right-click the clouds layer and select ‘Convert to Smart Object’ then right click again and select Duplicate Layer and click OK. After that, select the duplicate clouds layer and press CTRL + T and right click and select Flip Vertical then drag it down by pressing CTRL + Down arrow, so it becomes a mirror image to the clouds.
4. Add Gaussian Blur
Select the duplicate layer then go to ‘Filter’ then select ‘Blur’ then ‘Gaussian Blur’. You can adjust blur radius to your preference, but I’ve adjusted it to 8.6.
5. Add Motion Blur
Go to ‘Filter’ then select ‘Blur’ then ‘Motion Blur’ then adjust the distance to 54 pixels. then drag the layer up a bit to the horizon.
6. Group the Clouds Layer
Create a Group Folder by clicking the ‘Create a New Group’ icon located at the bottom of the Layer Panel. CTRL + Click the Clouds Layer and the Duplicate Clouds layer to select both layers and put it inside the Group Folder by dragging both layers up to the Group Folder.
7. Hide the Group Folder
Click the ‘eye’ located beside the Group Folder to hide its visibility.

8. Select the Red Channel
After you hide the Group Folder’s visibility, select the Model layer and go to Channels located at the upper part of the layer panel then hold CTRL + click the Red channel to make a selection of the whites in the image.
9. Add Layer Mask
After you make a selection, select the Group Folder then click the ‘Add Layer Mask’ icon located at the bottom of the Layer Panel. Then turn on the visibility of the Group Folder.
10. Add Curves
Click the ‘Create New Fill’ icon located at the bottom of the Layer panel, then select Curves then move the dots as shown in the picture.
11. Add Hue/Saturation
Click the ‘Create New Fill’ icon then select the Hue/Saturation then adjust Saturation to +10.

12. Add Color Look Up
Click ‘Create New Fill’ icon then select ‘Color Lookup’ then select FallColors.look.
13. Minimize the Effect
Select the ‘Brush Tool’ and make sure your foreground color is Black and change the brush opacity to 30% then select the Group Layer Mask and brush off the Wood area to minimize the effect.
