  1. flaunting bible verse through a tattoo is awesome…there is nothing wrong in going crazy for the Lord.Glorifying God takes so many forms, and who knows it will make a difference to people.

    • Leviticus chapter 19, verse 28, which says:

You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD. by the way i found this site because i Google bible quotes images i wasnt looking for this but i thought it might help to those who think or have been led to believe that getting bible quotes is a way of GOING CRAZY for Jesus… it isn’t im not judging any one but if you believe you following christ then you shouldnt take offense with this comment because the BIBLE doesnt LIE

      • If we’re going to start forcing believers to strictly follow the laws of Leviticus, that also means that in addition to not allowing tattoos, men aren’t allowed to trim their beards, there are a large number of foods we are not long allowed to eat, etc. The fact of the matter is, if you’re a born again Christian that believes Christ died for your sins, you can’t call tattoos unbiblical, because the only basis we have for calling them unbiblical is the Old Testament law, which Christ abolished by dying for our sins. So if you believe Christ died for you, then you believe that tattoos are acceptable. I think it says alot about today’s church when most people don’t even know enough about the Word to distinguish what is Old Testament law, and understand what Christ means in relation to that law. Get in the word people!

          • The bible is the infallible word of God. God used man as a tool, just as we would use a hammer or screwdriver, and spoke his words into them. Don’t you think if God thought that man would lie in the bible he would have just done it himself?

            • Doesn’t mean the man himself that wrote it wasn’t corrupt or pretending to speak in the name of God but that is just my thought…The only way I would ever get a tattoo if it was either my little sisters name or God’s word.

          • 2 Timothy 3:16 says that All scripture is given by inspiration of God.
So well, Yes, it is written by man.. it came directly from God and He was speaking through man

          • The bible was written BY god TROUGH people. God is powerful enough to give people visions, just like he gave john a vision of armagedon. How else would a man back in bible times have the imagination to describe structures we have in modern times today, it’s impossible. Another example is, God also spoke to moses to create the ten commandments on a stone. There are many encounters and stories throughout all of history that show that god speaks to people and he also speaks through them. the bible does not speak blasphemy, and to say that the bible is a lie is very offensive. it says all scripture is god breathed, he created us and he can use us to speak to others about his word.

          • jessica your whole life is a lie. And you lay in darkness. So Please come to the light of GOD. JESUS said , Those who come after me, Deny yourself, pick up your cross daliy and follow me. For those who try to save there own life will surely lose there life, But those who lose there life for me and my name JESUS,in the same way will save there life………….. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world,But lose his very soul. Find JESUS before it is to late.

            • Saying her whole life is a “lie” is really ignorant. She was created by God, just as everyone else. She is perfect in his eyes, and here for a reason. You’re a fool to speak so harshly.

          • No jessica you are wrong, darling. Bibble was written by people who where inspired by Holy Spirit. God is Holy Spirit
            2Timothy 3:26

          • Man could not come up with something so perfect like the bible.its straight forward. It doesnt change. We do. If you beleive in him or not, he still is.

          • The Bible was written by God through Man. The God I know and love would never allow his word to be presented in any other way than the truth. The thought that the Bible may be untrue is the work of the enemy.

        • Well you can also say the same thing about homosexuality, and if you are saying that we shouldnt abide by Old Testament law then you are mistaken. Yes I do agree that some of the Old Testament laws are outdated, but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t follow them.

          • Love- Its all about Love nothing else. All God wants is our hearts, so don’t get caught up in the law, get caught up in his love, then we can see people thru Gods eyes and we will only see the beauty in them, not there flaws and sins.

            • Renae has it. Everyone jumping to judge and condemn when all that is wanted is to love one another as he loves us. So Jew or Gentile or non-gentile, love is all that he asks for.

          • Homosexuality is also listed as detestable in the New Testament. The difference is that in the NT it is dealt with through grace.

          • Matt 5:17
Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
            NKJV
Important to read the rest of this verse.

            • This is a misrepresentation of Mathew. The only reference to homosexuality in the NT is when Paul quotes Jesus discussing marriage. His preference is nobody get married and you remain chaste (so you can better serve God) However he recognizes that isn’t practical for everyone. those ‘born a eunich’ (homosexuals) should avoid marriage, because (in Essene Jewish tradition) marriage is strictly for the purpose of having children. If you can’t have kids, there isn’t any purpose in pretending to be heterosexual by getting married (to what would be a woman at the time). the NT never explicitly condems being homosexual. At best, it discourages acting on it (as it does any two people who arent married). Not because its an abomination, but because it wasn’t considered practical

        • Amen…people who are against tattoos are those who dont fully understand the scriptures. If we are supposed to follow 1 part or scripture of the OT then we are supposed to follow it all and thats impossible. I mean in that case lets start sacrificing animals to atone for our sins because Jesus hasnt paid for it if we have to follow those things. Not only that but people who quote the scripture about not marking your flesh are taking it out of context when its used against tattoos. When you quote scripture in defense of Christ you ‘re supposed to be fully aware of how to apply it according to context. Im not offended by anything I just think people havent studied out the scriptures. That verse about marking yourself is God telling His people not to do it because back in that day there were people who marked themselves for demonic rituals, etc. Now that we have Christ then we only need to make sure our motives are pure before God in whatever we do. If you’re going to follow that then follow all of the OT to the “T” or you will be damned and lose your salvation (which I dont believe people can lose their salvation if you’re in truly in Christ). That theology just doesnt make sense if you follow that line of thought all the way through…just sayin. No offense :)

          • I agree, but I also think, Salvatin is not an excuse, and obviously people develope their own opinions no matter what. I cannot speak on behalf of God, however, we are here to fullfill his will. I believe Christians should encourage the best in other christians and as a whole, we all should encourage salvation on the unsaved. Respect the ways of the devil and the way he manipulates perspectives of God. God wants ALL of us saved. People who think of Christians as hypocrites look at all of this stuff we all have said about this young ladies post from scripture, and we make Believing in God look like its is no different from living a Wordly life. Yes, its God who Judges us, not them, BUT ITS GOD WHO JUDGES US. Do you feel what I am saying. Arguing back and forth over the World Wide Web isnt helping God, and I honestly think that yes some poeple might be inspired by seeing a spiritual tattoo, but if your perminently marking yourself for someone else, then it defeats the purpose of getting a tattoo. Poeple get tattoos for what they mean to themself. Not for other people. And your more then likely to look like a hypocrite to a very critical thinker of God, then like an Ambassador. We should try to help him as much as possible, not justify him as much as possible..God will do that for himself. He wants us to be A Light. I honestly feel like my Light will shine JUST A LITTLE BIT BRIGHTER, if I didnt have tats….And I do, but, I know better now, and I care more about trying to help someone know God(through scripture and testinmony, not pictures on my skin), then taking a chance on hoping my christian tats inspiring someone. Its like trying to play the lottery and win the JackPot…Ill take my chances on Elements I can enhance within myself and in Gods TRUE OUTWARD effect on my life. Context is not just knowing the BIBLE front to back, and from Back Then to Now, its more about KNOWING GOD FOR WHO GOD IS< AND ACKOWLDGING HIM AS JUST THAT. I remember I got in trouble because I asked my mom for some of a Cake she made. She said of course baby you can have a slice. Me being a Young Boy, Cut A Huge Slice of that cake, almost Half of the cake and Ate it. She was going to Share the cake with Family that was coming over. When she saw how much I took, she was MAD as ever. She said a slice, and I took a HUGE SLICE. I knew better and wasnt being practical at all, and abusing her trust in MY JUDGEMENT. So if you want to go get tatted up, go ahead…my mom was mad and got over it, but she still felt take advantage of, and life I abused her trust, and was hurt by my actions. And yes I was punished for my whole life, she just smacked me and told me to just go away. But she was dissapointed and hurt. If you get a tat and dont feel like your disapointing God and that it doesnt hurt him, when someone who doesnt know him looks at your tats and says to themselves, that they would rather take their chances living in the world then joining a group of hypocrites and argumentative people who dont aggree on anything about God. Then something is not as SINCERE as it should be(towards God, and your Apreciation for his Grace and Mercy, and Jesus DEATH ON THE CROSS) from with in yourself or OURSELVES as Gods children. Praying can only help, and even drastically help. Getting a tatto might help, and it might not, but not having a tatt will only help OR drastically help……We cant justify Gods Mercy, for our WANTS and Desires. We dont have to be alive, and Im am just Glad I dont have Leprecy, or havent been burnt up in a building on FIRE set by someone who SMOKES CIGERETTES or somn like that. We cant confuse PRACTICALITY WITH BEING OVER SPIRITUAL. And there is such a thing, being over spiritual is indirectly and most times probably nievely, more distracting and self glorifying then it is Worshiping and Honoring God. We have to be moderate and balanced with our spirituality so that we can be effective SERVANTS of God, which is what we become after we are saved!

Be Blessed, but more importantly be A Blessing!

            • Excuse all the Typos please lol, im not the best typer or whatever it is called. And I hope my tone of that opinion i posted wasnt taken harshly or anything. It wasnt meant to be harsh or critical, it was purely out of love and sincerity. and my opinion and belief on the Topic. I just love God and want everyone that doesnt know what if feels like, to have God in your Heart to know that your in Gods heart, is like. I dunno, I just think that I wouldnt ever see Jesus all tatted up, even if they were christian tats ya know. I think he PRESENCE and LOVE for GOD would be MORE OBVIOUS then any other thing could or would be, and that we should all approach it like that, to best of our abilities.

        • The only problem with your theory is this: Christ didn’t come to abolish the law, but fulfill it. Paul explains in Galatians 3:23-26:

23 Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. 24 So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, 26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

Long story short, the law was given to show God’s expectations of man, so they would see their true humanity. Now that Christ has come & fulfilled the old Mosaic Law, we have direct access to Him through faith, believing that He was the perfect sacrifice for our sinful nature, that He was Resurrected 3 days after His death, and that He is still alive today interceding for us to God.

        • You are right brotha, however, I believe that we should try to make sure and do our best to acknowledge the pain and suffering Jesus went through and the example he set before us. Like praying(at the worst it can only HELP-for people who havent fully committed to a relationship with the lord; most people still do pray) can only help, and we should be honest with God and with ourselves and try not use his death as a form of an excuse to allow and accept CONSIOUS decisions within ourselves that we know still to be sinfull. It was a Law for a reason, because we do not belong to ourselves, we belong to God, and our flesh does make it impossible to be perfect, but jesus died to take away shame and guilt, and most of all, Failures, out of our resumes to find a way into heaven. The law was abolished, but our sincerities and love for God should be Established better and to the best of our abilities. It somewhat like eating healthy as appose to eating fast food all the time. The benifits of a healthier lifestyle far outway a reckless or a “lottery” lifestyle. For an athlete to be at his best, he needs drink water, stretch, and endure extensive trainging and make numerous sacrifeses in lifestyle to accomplist the milestones they set out to achieve. I want to be at my best for God, not just to make it to Heaven for myself, but to Honor him, and to Wear an Effective Witness through my lifestyle to help others find their ways into God’s love and heaven. God wants all of his children. The difference between leaders and followers is PERSPECTIVE. God the HIGHEST LEADER we have, has His own plan and Perspective, and ALL HIS CHILDREN are apart of this plan, and we need to DO and take Action in helping in his plans, as appose helping ourselves. You are very right, and not wrong. Getting in the Word is abselutely right, but we have to read it in Context and allow God to transform us, even in our thinking to learn to understand Him and what He wants and Ackowledge him about everything, not, our own understanding, but his understanding. I am here today because he gave me this breath of life, and tomorrow is up to him, so I will do my best to honor him with my best today, and I believe getting a tattoo, against his will(even though forgivin) is not the best way I can honor him. I believe I can do better, and find better ways.. I believe. But that is just me. I look at it like taking a sick day at work when I am not sick, and I go out for the day. Yeah i can get away with it without having to be accountable to be at work, however, not being at work means, my work load has to be taken on by someone else, and effects not just me, but others. I don’t belive Jesus died so we can take sick days, he died because he knows we are going to get sick….hope this makes sense. Make sure when you minister to someone you teach them how to love God the way he disserves to be loved and that you are loving him in the same way, and be wise of the advice and of how constructive your feedback REALLY is. I statement go a long way, when trying to humble listeners, and getting someone to HEAR what it is that you feel is necessary for them to know to help them to help God…

        • Matthew 5:18
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

        • perfectly written. not harsh at all. clear cut and to the point.people like to try to bring down what others are proud of. if you are proud of your faith, tattoo, sing it, say it, read it everyday! if you don’t have something positive to say to things like this..or anything in life at all.. just don’t say anythingat all and let people do what they want to celebrate their love for things. its not up to ANYONE to criticize anyone.

      • I believe the scripture you just quoted was referring to idolatry. If you study the passage deeply and take into consideration the era in which it was written I believe you will realize it has a meaning different to the one you belive it has now. I won’t tell you my interpretation, but i urge you, please go forth in you deeper understanding of the word. :)

      • That verse refers the the pagans idolizing their false gods. By tattooing sacreligious images on themselves. If you idolize Christ our savior it’s not sin. It’s even accepted with the “new law”

        • I am not sure to what you are referring, but if you think that all of this banter disqualifies you from the grace of God, you are being led astray. God loves you. He wants nothing more than to have a personal relationship with you and although we all sin, He has made provision for us throught the Blood of the Perfect Lamb so that our sins are washed away and we can truly experience that awesome relationship. All you have to do is trust that Jesus died for you for that very purpose, believe that He rose again, conquering death for all of us and is preparing a place for us in God’s kingdom. Nothing any of us have done or will ever do can take away the sacrifice that Christ made. Have faith in that. Step forward and start a real relationship with Him by learning to trust Him. Tatoos, scars, sins or whatever you bring to lay at the cross. When you get us, leave that burden there. He will carry it for you.

      • the bible also says how you should sell your daughter for marriage and how you should treat your slaves and servants and how you should kill anyone with a different religion. (Deuteronomy 17:2-7)

… i dont no the verses for the other two but they are in there… you cant take everything in the bible literally

      • Leviticus is found in the old testament. The new testament confirms that we are unable to keep clean ourselves. That is why God sent Jesus to die for our sins and make us clean again. The old testament books are just guidelines of our historical past and the wages of sin. We are living in new testament times where we have a savior to cleanse us of our sins. Why should we be living in the past when God gave us a future

      • I got this Verse tattooed on me, I don’t think anyone follows the laws of Leviticus anymore…Who are we to pick and choice which laws to follow, I respect the lord and believe as much as any one of faith, but personally I think god put us on earth to be all we can be and to not indulge in sin, we have fallen far from gods hands in the decades since an era of belief and faith. We’ve harassed many for their beliefs and gods, we have fought fellow man, we have enough lies, whores, and violence to make god weep till the earth turns old and dark. I am sure someday we will either find our way back to what the lord wanted us to believe, or wander further from his gaze. I think we should just keep his words in heart and soul, but to find our own way and experience our lives till the day we arrive at his gates. He is our lord, if he is understanding and loves his children I am sure he will understand our take on life and his words of wisdom.

      • that was just meant to tell the isrealites to avoid the ways of the surrounding tribes at the time to remain as the marked people of god, there is no way that scripture can apply to us, read the whole scripture in context

      • We live in a better covenant not bound by the law. the reason that law was even given down was becasue in that day the pegans would mutilate and scar and ink thier bodies as a form of worship to Bal. Jesus is the Word and so when you put scripture on your body you are putting jesus on and all who see read and see Jesus. Anyways to spread the Wrod is good. This talk is pharasee religoes old testament talk! We r free!

      • Do you eat meat, Do you tell your boyfriend, partner or husband to trim/shave his beard, or cut his hair? Christ died for us and abolished the old testament. some people think the whole bible has to be followed, But he died for us so we didn’t have to go through what the old testament says. Just my opinion and many many of millions of Christians believe that! :)

        • great because I can commit murder and not worry because it is old testement and therefore not relevent to today. after all it is ot and not under christ law!

          • Killing is forbidden in the NT. It violates the greatest commandment, doing unto others…

Do not kill is also specifically called out in several non-conanized gospels. It is the first of Jesus’ 7 commandments.

      • @ Jasmine. Read the whole scripture not just the verse. Thats just like reading half of a sentence and taking it way out of context. If you read the whole verse its talking about a specific sitiuation. Learn how to read the bible before you go quoting it, and you know whats funny? I dont even believe in god.

      • Yes Leviticus 19:28 does say not to tattoo, however of you read the end of leviticus chapter 18 up until this point you also realize God is talking about standing out and not doing things pagans do because Jews were held to a much higher standard Leviticus 19:26 says not to eat anything with blood in it Leviticus 19:27 says not to cut hair or beards and Leviticus 19:19 says not to wear linens of mixed fabrics. I am very sure you do many of these things are they not wrong? The bible doesn’t lie. Also in the book of Romans it says that after Jesus came he cleansed our sin and therefore we do not have to do all of the things previously mentioned any longer. Just wanted to state a few facts.

      • This is true for Jews. But Jesus came to fulfill levitical law so Christians are not bound by it. It is not a sin to have a tattoo;)

      • So I suppose that your contention is that we (New Covenant Christians) are to follow all Judaic law? So……should we start stoning people to death again?

      • Levitican law is not exactly something followed to a ‘T’ anymore. It also cast sin upon those who don’t wear the right clothing and those who shave their beards. Choosing which laws you follow and demeaning those who choose theirs as well is not very consistent, in my opinion at least. Check your closet is my only advice, as they say, all sins are in face equal!

      • This is found in the old testament, It was God referring to those who tattooed themselves to Pagan religious beliefs. He was saying to not worship these other Gods by cutting into yourself.

      • before quantifying that verse you must be able to comprehend the context. tattoos in that sense describes the marks of molech, the god of moab, which they would tattoo on their foreheads, cheeks, etc. also, leviticus holds under the old law, which no longer applies today because Jesus, through the fulfillment of prophecy, has established a new covenant between us and the Lord. physical bodies are nothing more than shells to house our true body

      • Leviticus also says not to cut your hair or trim your beards or eat meat that hasn’t been drained of all blood. You must look at Leviticus 19 in full context, not just a single verse. God was requiring his people to live under the old law to be seperate from the gentiles, however when Christ came to earth he lifted the old law. As long as you have faith in God the Father, and Jesus Christ the Savior, and have love in your heart for all your fellow human beings, and repent of your sins, you will be saved. I’m sure God will not condemn His faithful children for further glorifying His name by means of a tattoo.

      • Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Many people are thowing stones living in glass house’s! Judge not lest ye be judged!! Make sure in your spirit of correction it is filled with LOVE and not insults!!!

      • Do you also believe that women need to stay away from basically everyone and church while they are on their period, do you also believe we are going to go to hell becuase many christians eat pork or bacon???? Check Levitucus again love…..alot of those are very old rules and laws and many arent followed today.

      • Please don’t take this to offense, because I don’t mean to start an issue but- that verse is not only taken out of context, but read incorrectly by so many people. The Bible says not to mark on yourself for the DEAD or any other IDOL. It’s the same for piercings. If it’s for anything other than to show praise to God, it’s unholy. God will never tell us that a form of praise to Him is unholy.

      • I’m not a Jew so Jewish law doesn’t apply to me. Try the New Testament laws for Gentiles. I can and do eat a lot of bacon and garlic smothered prawns, I mix cloth and I have tattoos am I still going to heaven? Yes I am, why? Because Jesus shed his pure blood on the cross so I could enter the kingdom of heaven. Thank you Jesus

      • I find it so funny when people use the Bible to prove a point improperly and out of context. It also says we shouldn’t cut our hair our trim our beards remember …. But sticking to just your text Jasmine… You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord . (Leviticus 19:28 ESV). The context of this text is for the dead. Almost like a form of idol worship. I see nothing wrong with tattoos of scripture.

      • At the same token, God will come back with KIngs of Kings on his thigh. I don’t believe it will be one of those washable tattoos kids get but an actual tattoo on His thigh. It’s just a though. Getting a tattoo doesn’t mean you are going crazy for Jesus. I want one because of the time I felt God calling me and leading me. I just want to honor Him by making a covennent with a tattoo.

      • Whom ever wrote the reply about not cutting into your body needs to understand that those laws were written under the Mosaic Laws. We are no longer under the Mosaic Law.

      • I hate when people quote Leviticus 19:28 to me about my tattoos for a couple reasons. One, if you are going to talk to me about my tattoos then yes as Tyler said there are other things the chapter mentions that we shouldn’t do. A good one is eat raw meat. We do that a lot today and Leviticus says we shouldn’t. Second is that people take the verse completely out of context like people do with much of the bible. So please if you are going to tell people they shouldn’t get tattoos and quote Leviticus to them, you should really look at this verse in context and really understand that this was directed to the people of the land and of the time. This verse doesn’t really apply to today. Boom! There’s some theology for ya

      • Leviticus was written for specific reasons. To create shared culture (customs), to maintain order and protect people (laws), and distinguish the Israelites from other people (in everyday day life, but especially in battle). Leviticus is filled with laws that were no longer necessary and no longer practiced even in 30 AD. There are multiple quotes in the NT that Jesus teachings supercede OT teachings. Furthermore, if you subscribe to non-canonized gospels such as the Essene Gospel of Peace, Jesus says that the ‘scriptures are dead’ and the OT was written by man for men. It goes on to say that Gods law is a living law and the OT purpose is to get you to a place where you are ready to understand to this higher law. Point is, tatoos dont contradict the Bible anymore than eating shellfish does.

      • Actually, the context of that verse is a warning to Idolatry, and marking yourself to the Dead. the word Tattoo in the Biblical sense comes from the Hebrew word QA’AQA pronounced kah-ak-ah which means incision or gash +mark QA’AQA comes from the Hebrew Root word Qoa which in the original sense means to cutting off. What they did in times of Leviticus was scaring themselves in rituals to the false gods which were dead. This is the context of Chapter 19.. Furthermore if one was to apply that to tattoo’s of today’s it would still be irrelevant in a sense. WE are not under law but under grace. If it violates your conscience or you are flaunting it to someone in which it causes them to stumble then it because a sin. If one was to take a Levitical law to apply it in today’s time one would have to apply the whole Levitical law to their Lives. WE have freedoms in Christ he came to set us free from bondage not to keep us in bondage.

      • There is nothing
        from without
        a man, that entering
        into him can
        defile him: but the
        things which come
        out of him, those are
        they that
        defile the man.
        Mark 15:12 (my first tattoo)
-No offense taken, but you shouldn’t be so as to mislead believers of the Lord our God into following institutionalized thought.

Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Matthew 23:15

      • If you read the Leviticus when he speaks of tattoos. The context of that verse he speaks of the pegan rituals that were being taken. When they would cut their skin meaning (they would cut their bodies releasing blood and the bad spirits) when he speaks of tattooing he is referring to them making false god (pegan god) tattoos on their bodies.

Represent JC in every form you can. Bless Him and give Him glory!! He will NEVER leave not forsake His children!!

      • I do not have any markings and agree the Bible does not lie. However, I would like to suggest to you to read more about law and grace. When was the law given and why? When was the law covered by grace?

      • Revelation 19:16 – “And He has on his robe and on his thigh a name written ‘King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”

I’m highly doubting that this is going to be written on Jesus’ thigh with sharpie.

      • Neither does the television or radio there is truth and lies in all teachings verses and writing other there would be no room for making our own decisions on what is right or wrong.

  2. The “Greek Biblical Verse” one is utterly painful to look at, not because it looks fresh, but because it is a rushed copy/paste job. For starters the Biblical Greek (Koine Greek) didn’t have the |, /, and = in it. Second, the words are all broken up in the wrong places. Third, it is supposed to be Psalm 23:4 “walk through the valley of death”, but it’s the Greek translation the (Septuagint, LXX) and it’s not even a direct quote of it.

Seriously folks, before you get an ancient Greek or Hebrew Biblical quote permanently tattooed on your hide do yourself a favor and do some homework to see if what you are putting on your body is correct. One call to a local pastor with a Masters of Divinity degree could have save this person this embarrassment.

  3. hi….glorifying God shud be our priority….but dont forget that honouring Him with ur body is an important thing, too….now just becoz u like tattoos and know that marking ur bodies is unacceptable to God does not mean that u encourage ‘Biblically-inspired tattoos’….that sounds like a holy excuse to me…moreover, marking ur bodies is beastly…and looking at this tattoos makes u feel out-of-place even tho it has a Biblical message…

the standards of morality which God has set wont change for ne1 of us…plz do make note of this….may God grant u strength to overcome this habit of urz.. :))

    • well hello miss holier than thou, ur pompous nature makes me sick. havent u ever read the bible? let me refresh you on something jesus said HIMSELF, ” those of you that are with out sin cast the first stone” and now this is the part where u walk away :)

    • If we were to go by what you are talking about men wouldn’t shave their beards and no one would cut their hair. The scripture in Leviticus is talking about not doing the things of other religious practices of other groups. Leviticus 19:28 says “You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD” The tattoo marks they are talking about It is not one of body décor but one of marking yourself in connection with cultic religious worship. If a tattoo gives praise to God it really isn’t a sin. That’s taking scripture out of context.

    • I would say your title name sounds about right. You have no clue that it is unacceptable to God based on any fact other than your own opinion.Beastly? Laughable, Our bodies are his temple, so by your standards of judgement a church or “temple” should be barren as well, for if it has any decorations or adornments it is beastly.. what a maroon as bugs bunny used to say.

    • Good on ya, I agree. This comment is refreshing. Most comments here have completely missed the point by arguing about Lev 19.28. What about Rom 12.2 – do not conform to the pattern of this world, and 1 Cor 6.19 & 20 – you were bought at a price and your body is no longer yours to do as you please but it belongs to God??
Tattoos are of the spirit of this world, they promote lust and pride and are donned by people who seriously want to look tough or edgy to others, but underneath it all comes down to the same old spirit of rebellion. Even psychologists and medical doctors have written countless articles about tattoo and piercing culture being related to self mutilation, mental illnesses and drug/gang culture. People if you are born again – you now belong to JESUS culture – stop trying to fit into the world and COME OUT AND BE YE SEPARATE!! (which was exactly the reason God even gave the commands in Leviticus 19 – read v 2 for context). (PS – the world isnt looking for a bible verse tattoo to convert them, they are looking for people who walk their talk and dare to be HOLY in a world of so much compromise in the name of relevance. God is sick of it and soon enough will separate the sheep from the goats.)

      • Linda, can you show me where God says he is sick of it? I am curious to know how you know God is sick, period.

Do I go to hell because I have tattoos?

        • Is that all you are looking for mate, the bare minimum to make it into Heaven? Christians have made Jesus their Lord, and therefore find great joy in yielding all of their life to Him. People go to Hell because they love sin, the truth is not in them, they become lukewarm in their devotion etc etc etc. There are many paths to Hell, but only the narrow (gk: tight, uncomfortable) path takes you to Heaven. I know lots of mighty men and women of God with tattoos – it is insignificant whether you have any or not – what is significant is your desire to move forward and love Christ through your obedience to His commands.

          • I assume you know more than the rest of us, did God talk to you personally and tell you he is sick of it? Do I burn in hell for having tattoos?

Please never assume to know more than you really do.

          • Linda one more thing I forgot to mention, what more do you think we deserve?

Did you not know we are not worthy of entering the kingdom of heaven but God made it possible for us to enter by his love for us and you expect more?

      • So I guess you are a perfect person in every shape, form and fashion? No. It doesn’t matter to me what doctors or anyone else for that matter says about tattoos, except Jesus. YOU are judging people by their tattoos. When you see a person walking down the street with tattoo’s you see a sinful person, right? By reading this I am going to say yes. Do you know that judging is a sin? Who are you to say God is sick of something? These bodies that we are in now are our earthly bodies. When we die they will not come with us. We are not judged based on what our skin looks like. We are judged, by Jesus not you, based on our hearts, not our looks.

    • calling people hypocrites when youre on a website looking at religous tattoos seems pretty hypocritical in itself doesnt it .. if it makes people happy dont judge man

    • If you are going to use scripture use a brain cell and take it in context. This was written because people were getting tattoos to honor oth Gods but if you want to take it just on its own then any many who trims his beard or gets the hair trimmed around the temples of his head is guilty of the sin.

    • Actually, smartass, Levicticus was reprised in the new testament as morals and beliefs from the Israelites 5000 years ago and NOT the word of God, that arguement is only valid towards Jews. Hence why Christians don’t have any food laws. Just goes to show what you know about the Bible.

      • I want to start by saying “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” 2Timothy 3:16. I start with that because as Christians we read and reverence the whole Bible–not just the New Testament or the parts printed in red, but the the Bible in its entirety. As someone said earlier Christ came to fulfill the Law, not to abolish it. And Paul tells us in Romans that the only reason we know what sin is is because of the law; so to dismiss it because it is Old Testament is a folly. However, we are saved by grace and through faith in risen Jesus Christ and nothing else. This discussion is really something each of us should be having with Jesus, because its a matter of our own walk . Our decision to tattoo or not should based on our study and our answered inquiry from God– and that answer may very well vary from one to the other because of the individual call and tasking of our life. The Word says all things are lawful and permissable ( except the things that are said not be). But it also says that everything isn’t expedient and not to let our liberty be a stumbling block to our brother; the only way we will know this by prayer. I came to to this site because I was contemplating getting a tattoo, but then I saw all these nasty, hostile or sometimes profane comments and I was saddened. The world knows us not because we have or have not tattooed a scripture on us or becuase we wear a cross pendant or because we carry a Bible everywhere we go, but but by how we love another. If I came across this site as an unbeliever all the pretty tattoo would render meaningless, because no love was on this site.

        • I hope more people read your post because it’s important that sites like this do not cause others to stumble in their faith by christians making negative comments. I (like you) am contemplating a tattoo but as a cover-up of a tattoo I got as a teenager. Its clear that you have a true relationship with God and I know your post has ministered to those who would take the time to read it. Great post. God Bless!

    • Leviticus 19:28, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the Lord

Thus spoke the God of Abraham and this was confirmed by Jesus when he said “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. “

      • Matt 7:1-5
1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother‘s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,‘ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother‘s eye.

It is Gods job to be the judge. We, as Christians need to concentrate on our own personal walk and let the Holy Spirit move through us to effect others. For He is the only one who can save (or damn) anyones soul, and “our” words unless directly influenced by God Himself will be like tossing pearls to swine.

        • John, you’re an idiot. Doug is not religious. Those verses do not matter to him. However, to you idiotic Christians, you are too stupid to not know what your Bible tells you. Bunch of morons.

        • Exactly. Why is everyone questioning whether or not getting a tattoo of something you believe in is a sin or not. Especially when that belief is in God. Are these people so perfect that it has come down to questioning this? Dont you have greater sins to think about like adultery and not following in Christ’s path.

    • Is really easy to point at someone and judge someones behavior. But how much of an example anybody could be by judging some else. Is easy to point someone out but we should examine our own lives first and let God take care of the rest.

  4. @JEREMY. THIS IS NOT A MATTER OF LEVITICUS 19:28, but of ROMANS 14:23.
besides, it is important to take note of the surrounding context on LEVITICUS 19:28.
if you do your research, you would know that this passage in Leviticus, including the surrounding text, is specifically dealing with the pagan religious rituals of the people living around the Israelites. God‘s desire is to set his people apart from other cultures. The focus here is prohibiting worldly, heathen worship and witchcraft. God forbids his holy people to engage in idolatrous, pagan worship and sorcery which imitates the heathens. He does this out of protection, because he knows this will lead them away from the one true God.

  5. Hello SloDive — My name is Paul Richards and I run a web site that does Bible Q&A. A recent question came in that asked about tattoos. If possible, I would like to use one of your images in my answer about the Bible and tattooing. Please let me know if this is ok. I have provided full credit to you and included links to your SloDive pages. You can see the image in question at this link: http://www.answersfromthebook.com/cgi-bin/aftb/answers?main_answer=34 I hope you let me use the image. It is pretty cool. — Thanks, Paul Richards

  6. I have a tattoo on my left arm in Hebrew that states “I am with you always.” It’s a reminder to me that God is always with me, to protect me. Not only that, but when I think about doing something wrong, I tend to catch a glimpse of my arm. I suddenly don’t feel like doing anything wrong anymore. Several times a day, I’m asked what my tattoo says, and I have a great witnessing tool engrained in my skin.

    • I just had Blackshear’s “Forgiven” Tattooed on 1/2 of my back, first tatt for me! It has deep spiritual meaning and I have a hard time thinking God is anything less than thrilled with such an outward acknowledgment of h His Grace, and my imperfections. Peace

    • Justin.. what does that look like in Hebrew? Any place you can direct me on the web or take a pic of your own? I would love to see that!

    • Hey there,
I’ve been looking into a hebrew tattoo saying the same as yours, I was originally felt Isaiah 41:10, do not fear for I am with you, but is essentially saying the same thing as “I am with you always”

How did you make sure that it was grammatically correct? and written correctly?
and was ALSO wondering if I could see a picture of it?

If you can get back to me asap, that would be much appreciated! My window of opportunity for this tattoo is down to 3 days!
      Bless you
      Lexie

  7. Yes. I also believe Romans 14 is a helpful chapter when examining the subject of tattoos. It is a great passage to read when one is evaluating if something that is not specifically addressed in the Bible might be considered sin or not for that particular person and their circumstance.

I’ve been hearing the argument of Leviticus 19 for a while now –and it’s a valid and important one- so I did some extensive (I guess that’s relative) research on the topic of how to interpret Leviticus 19 from the New Testament. I hope this helps somebody:

    http://www.quickenme.com/can-christians-get-tattoos-according-to-the-bible/

    Thanks

  8. I have the same type if tattoo as the Philippians 4:13 and Leukemia ribbon :D Its The ribbon with Leukemia written in it and boxing gloves hanging off the side( means fight cancer) and Philippians 4:13 above it

  9. I just wanted to say that i have run into many people like Jeremy who have said that I’m a sinner for multiple things the top two are because I’m in the Marine Corps and because i have tattoos. I hear about how i am hurting my body the Lords temple, in which case i give them the response how much fast food do you eat they tend to get a puzzled look on their face and then walk away.

    • People can’t be angry because u serve our country or have tattoos. God says we are not to judge that people will be judged by him. I’m tired of people hiding behind their religion and attacking people. People sin all the time. I’m sure they’ve had sex before marriage, or cut their hair. Im a Christian and if I feel like getting a tattoo to show my faith I will. It’s not anyone’s place to judge me.

    • I’ll bet you also have Semper Fidelis tattooed on you, in the language of the people who crucified Christ.

      You make me sick.

  10. @shara what u said ab romans has nothing to do with what jeremy n the other girl said but if u really do fallow christ…u shouldnt have to be told this is wrong. its obvious this is wrong but ya’ll keep ur own opinions.. nobody can judge u , only god can

  11. As Christians, we must not be so quick to condemn people for tattoos or getting them to honor God. Yes everyone uses Leviticus 19:28 as their condemnation for tattooing, which is not necessarily the right way to look at it. Jesus taught us that love fulfills all of the commandments (Romans 13:8-10), and his life and death brought us a new covenant with Him. We keep the law by loving one another not pointing out why we are evil for getting tattoos. When we get into condemning people, we pusch away people who are trying to come to faith. Like jasilbo above said that we can dishonor God in so many other ways when we judge people for tattooing. Don’t judge lest you be judged first. Tattoo on my friends, and love each and every one of them as long as they are not blasphemous or offensive.

  12. Some of these are really nice, but it’s sad how many have grammatical errors. Holy crap! Do you people not proofread something you’re putting on your body for eternity??

“Love always preserves”, huh? I believe it’s “perseveres”.
And that one with an image of a Bible is the most hideous thing I’ve ever seen. It looks like it was drawn by an 8-year-old.

  13. Didn’t Jesus say it does not matter what goes in or on the body, but what comes out….???? Exactly…I see nothing wrong with expressing your love and loyalty to God through art on your body! Everyone will know you believe and I feel this is the most dedicated way, nowadays, to let everyone know. There’s no hiding it! Its like when Paul said he didn’t know Jesus…well I bet these people with these tattoos can’t deny him!

  14. look deep within yourself and ask yourself is getting a tattoo right?
We must depart from the pleasures of the world and this is indeed in that category.
He that soweth to the flesh shall reap corruption.
Know ye not that your body is the temple of god on earth? So how then can you defile it?
It is wrong to try and justify tattooing. They are not of the spirit and are a fleshly pleasure.
God would not be happy that you got a tat supporting him no….He would be angry that you got one and used him to attempt to justify it.
I know someone that drinks alcohol a fair bit and he tells me “o but Jesus made wine” thats a pathetic excuse as there as so many bible passages condemning the practice.

In conclusion dont justify unholy things by your standards of morality and manipulate bible verses to suit your agenda for it is written there will come many as sheep but secretly they are wolves. Walk in the spirit and leave the flesh behind because the soul is eternal but the flesh shall wither and die. I like to think of it this way….Suffer much in this life and fulfil the fruits of the spirit and you will have joy in the after life but if you sow to the flesh in this life you will reap corruption because you were not willing to suffer the spirit and fulfilled the lust of the flesh.

Remember that “life is a narrow path and few find it” Please dont be deceived by false teachings.

    • Man I like the way you speak for god. My body is a temple for the purpose of glorifying the lord Jesus Christ. His scripture does not defile it.
For the record the blood of Christ at the Lord’s Supper was wine. Who’s manipulating the scripture here for who’s purposes?
Your condescension is thinly veiled condemnation.

  15. I have a University summary to present in class on tattoos and body piercing and I do not know much about Tattooing: Can you elaborate more on the subject or send more details about the facts books and other websites?

Some of the items for discussion about tattooing; how clean are the instruments that are used to machine the cutting in the skin and implanting the ink, and what are the ingredient in the ink. How health is the ink to the cellular tissue to each individual which metabolize some of these chemicals into the blood stream. How much ink are taken into the body system and the surrounding tissues and organs; Are these ink medically okay to mixed with our body chemistry; How do the bone marrow react to this chemical before it manifest itself over a long period.
Tattoos are for life and can not be erase easily from it site.
Tattoos has many chemical effect on the body. and what special dyes are use?
    RRReid

  16. How silly that there are so many heated debates like this. I could quote verses as well to state my view, but we should go to the Lord in prayer TOGETHER instaed of arguing amongst ourselves. We sound like long-winded Pharasies. Where is the love that would cover this sin if it does so exist?

    -Monica

    • Amen, Monica! :))
I think Tattoos are great! I am a full born again, Christian! I love Jesus Christ with all my heart plus more.
I am going to get a Tattoo with a Bible verse soon :) It’s going to be on my side. & it’s going to GLORIFY JESUS CHRIST. Let’s not argue, but let’s come together. God loves us!

  17. Now, now my children. Let us stop this petty arguing, i do hate to see siblings fall out. I personally think that tattoos are freakin’ awesome and anyone whom has one shall reside in the kingdom of god for eternity. Btw my dads a pretty awesome fella himself, i do so wish people would stop assuming that he’s some sort of sad sack! Now shut ya face and get inked…or go to hell

  18. does anyone know a good website for christan symbols …….. like what im looking for is something ……ugh hard to explain …… like in the movie pirates of the caribean, jack has that “p” burn in his wrist…..i want something like that but a symbol from back when christans where really persacuted…..

  19. be anything…..we should do for the glory of god……god created us in his own image,we should appreciate his wonderful creation…..we should also remember that there are twelve signs of satanic tattoin….even t ‘dot’ sign has……god wont appreciate t evil deeds, lets try to appreciate ourselves whoever we are, we are unique creation of god…..when there is effect, there s also a cause,so when somebody against something,we should remember there is reason behind of this. jesus was pierced nt by himself bt by t evil men…….he doesnt want us to be ritualistic bt to be spiritual, having a good relationship with him…..May the holy spirit guide u to the right path….if we wanna know the truth,we should pray n ask god before we tattoo whether it is good to be done or not,he will surely tell us the right path….have faith in him….donot blindly tattoo yourself, if we do which is not according to his will, we are piercing and nailing to our lord….God bless you all..:)

  20. I’m a preacher’s daughter and I have tattoos, no my father does not approve of my tattoos but as he would say, God will love you for your heart, not your body or mind, as long as you believe in him, praise him, speak of him often, and devote yourself to him, no matter your sins, he will forgive you. God loves all people, tattooed or not, pierced ears, color of your eyes and skin, and I firmly believe if you truly love God and love yourself, he will not forsake you and forgive you of all of your sins if you are willing to have a personal relationship with God.

  21. We are Christians arguing with each other over something as small as tattoos. If you want a tattoo get a tattoo. If you don’t want a tattoo don’t get a tattoo. Jesus didn’t die on a cross so we could argue with each other I can guarantee you that.

  22. I think that there is a lot of judging going on here. What I do during my lifetime here on earth is between my God and me. It is not for anyone else to say what I am doing is wrong or right. What I do with the time given me, I will be held accountable for when Jesus comes to take me home. Why is everyone so worried about what others are doing? Instead of judging and saying “this is wrong” or “this is against the Bible” and what have you, maybe you should be spending more time praying 1 for your self and to be less judgemental & 2 to be more Christ-like. I don’t believe that Jesus would stand here pointing at me and tell me that my rose tattoo with “Dad” written on it is wrong or “unholy”. I believe He would be understanding (as it also says He is in the Bible!) and comforting to me as He was when He was with me when my father died. It is not for us to judge other people. It also says in the Bible that if a brother (or sister) is to fall into sin, that we should not judge him or treat him badly, but to restore him gently. I think everyone should look into their own hearts and lives and see just how many sins they commit on a daily basis and don’t even realize it. Should we then judge you as harshly as you have judged us? When you say things like “Well if you ask me….or Well if I were you…should we call you out as the boasters that you are? Although this doesnt sound like boasting, it is. And when you say something mean or ugly about what someone is wearing or how they look, should we then judge you? Think about the things you say before you say them. Judge not lest ye be judged. And if you do judge, you will then in turn be judged by the same standards that you yourself have judged. As people of Christ, we should at least try to love everyone, despite any “faults” we find in them. “Love thy neighbor as thyself”.

  23. I am 28 almost 29 and have been going to church since i’ve been little,I have daily epilepsy and 12 other health problems but am glad that I am a normal person and can walk and talk.
My friends 2 friends that own a tattoo shop are going to have a tattoo party tomorrow and I don’t have any tattoos yet but have wanted one but don’t want one cause I want to stay committed with God
I read the bible everynight and just read about how God doesn’t want to have tattoos.I also pray for a long time to God and rejoice to him,Amen!

  24. I have the Ichthys symbol (the fish) formed by the Greek initials that mean: “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour” behind my left ear. And is the statement of my loving to Jesus. So that everytime someone sees my tattoo they’ll know it.

  25. The Leviticus verses are refering to Heathen tattoes, ones of other religions or pagan ideals. Nothing against keeping the Lord so close to you that you have a reminder on your skin so you can see it everyday.

  26. Ronaldo is right. If some of y’all are true christians, why make such a big deal out of this. Obviously if the person knows the bible well enough to get a scripture tat they should also know about what the bible says about this topic so if a person wants a tattoo let them get it because it is there body

  27. The laws of Leviticus basically state to not do anything harmful to our bodies which means that eating McDonald’s is just as bad as getting a tattoo because all sins are equal. Also I believe somewhere in the bible it says when Jesus comes back He will have marked on His thigh Lord of Lords, King of Kings which I take as He may have a tattoo. I don’t see anything wrong with tattoos at all especially when their glorifying our Lord Jesus

  28. After reading this string, I’m never shaving a tattoo. I will however, cut my hair at the tattoo parlor after getting scripture inked. a Leg band outlined in black, filled in red, Phillippians 4:13. Matthew 22:37-40 on the other leg.

  29. Wow, I’ve been caught up in reading this verrrrry long list of comments regarding tattoos. Shame on all of this! For one thing, you are ALL being judgmental. Who are any of us to be the one who convicts? Stop judging each other & let whoever do what they feel is right…..do it or don’t. I’m also surprised at how many times throughout the different comments the “g” in God wasn’t capitalized…..I’m just saying……! God bless us ALL!

  30. LOL:

    Leviticus 19:28

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord.

  31. Self Exam – To Tattoo or Not To?

Here is a self-exam based on the ideas put forth in Romans 14. These questions will help you decide whether or not getting a tattoo is a sin for you:
How does my heart and my conscience convict me? Do I have freedom in Christ and a clear conscience before the Lord regarding the decision to get a tattoo?
Am I passing judgment on a brother or sister because I don’t have freedom in Christ to receive a tattoo?
Will I still want this tattoo years from now?
Will my parents and family approve, and/or will my future spouse want me to have this tattoo?
Will I cause a weaker brother to stumble if I receive a tattoo?
Is my decision based on faith and will the result be glorifying to God?

  32. Galatians is all about how we are unshackled and free for the law because of Christ’s sacrifice. All we have to do is believe. Nothing More. Nothing Less.
In Romans, it says, “Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means!” This says that while we are not under the law but under grace, we should continue to live as Jesus wants us to. This is true, but to say that we are not allowed to get tattoos because it says it in the law is wrong. It is a sin to add any requirements to our salvation. Christ’s death alone saved us and we are free to do whatever we want. Our job is to glorify God and point others toward him. If our tattoo does that then it is quite the opposite of a sin. On the other hand, if it causes a brother to stumble then we should have no part in it.
Over all, tattoos are not wrong in and of themselves. Just be careful what you put on your body.

    Jesus loves you all!

  33. I’ve read a few of these comments. What I would like to know is how anyone has the right to judge me and what I do? If you don’t think it’s right then fine, don’t. I have a cross tattoo that says “Only God Can Judge Me”, and in the end only God will judge me not anyone else. Not only that I’m going to get another one that says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. It will be my 10th tattoo because I have native american history and family as well. So go ahead and judge and quote bible verses all you want, but in the bible it also says not to judge.

  34. I agree with lexi, I was debateing getting a tactoo and a friend we are born again christians and Im trying to look into it came on line for insight and found this website and I think lexi said it best theres no love and as a new christian I was surprised to see all this . I m going to pray about it look into the word and fast if need be, and ask god to let my spirit know if I should or not , I do know he says to look to him for all things and pray and seek my word . more love and respect fellow christians.

  35. I am a daughter of a pastor/evangelist and have 3 tattoos, i also sing in church and show my tattoos proudly, and i have’nt yet got my first “biblical tattoo” but will soon, but my mom and dad does’nt care not one bit, because we believe that we are no longer under the old law, but saved by grace. Our flesh is like filthy rags, when we die it goes back to the dust of the earth where it came from, our spirit which is saved goes back to God. people tries so hard to get our flesh saved, our flesh makes mistakes everyday, that’s the reason we have to ask for forgivness. my next tattoo that i am getting in the next 3 weeks is going to say “forgiven”, because I am, I am a child of God. I get tired of people thinking they are so close to God and so Holy, because they wear dresses all the time, or don’t wear make-up or don’t wear jewerly, really they are living in bondage, “whom the son has set free, is free in deed.

  36. wow okay so i just read all these comments about the whole tattoo thing, most of us are christians here and some of the comments are just so rude, and judgemental, people should stop judging others, like the bible sayz judge and you will be judged. all the lord wants is us to love him,and our neighbour as ourselves, do good by him, praise him and take care of ourselves/our bodys not meaning dont decorate, he wants your spirit to be clean, its got nothing to do with your physical appearance, what is he going to do with your physical body wen you pass away? look i am christian and i have 6 tattoos every single one has a meaning for me and most of them are for passed away loved ones which means alot to me and every time i see it i think of that person , i also have a cross and a nice bible verse, which is really nice to have because i love the lord more then anything and to me it makes me feel good having these verses on my body, i love showing them off, it shows people just how much i love the lord , there is nothing wrong about getting tattoos . well i do agree with gangs and people getting satanic tattoos are wrong .yes fair enough but i live in newzealand were tattoos are a culture here people dont just get pictures they get meaningful tattoos, yes yes the bible says you shouldnt get tattoos but how many thousands of years ago was that written?? back in the day they got markings for their slaves, did funny rituals and like the other people commented about demonic symbols yes that was wrong!!! people didnt really know the lord that much until jesus came along and healed the sick and did all those miracles and died for our sins, thats how much he loved the world that he gave his only sun’s life to save us.. he loves us so much it isnt gonna matter to him if you have a tattoo or not , the lord is full of love and he does not judge!! and thats exactly how he wants us to be like. not to dudge people and do good by him, look jesus dies for us and we should all be greatfull. also this is the new world . the lord made the new testament for a reason, because he knew the world was going to evolve, if you live by the old testament then thats just how u like it but we are not living in the bible times now , we are living in the new age now. i live in nz and its almost like a diffrent culture here. and it doesnt make any of us a bad person, aslong as we do good by the lord he will be happy and he will be our salvation tattood or not. we have all got our own opinions and we should respect it not fight about it, just be true to yourself, if you think it is wrong then so be it , its wat you believe and people should respect it . it also is the same for us that dont believe its wrong . it our beliefs and all we ask is people to stop judging us and to respect our beliefs, this war about tattoos being wrong and how the old testament saiz that you shouldnt get it needs to stop, just love god above all and do right by him thats all he wants!!

  37. I’m a Christian and I believe Jesus Christ (Son of God) lived, died and was crucified for our sins.Yes,I also believe He was rose from the dead. Now I’m not going to sit here and say that I understand everything about the bible or which religions are wrong or right, cause I don’t! I’m not even going to say whether what others do is wrong or right, because who am I to judge anyone or anything. I believe the bible teaches us to love and except everyone just as Christ did and leave all the judging up to God. Because none of us are perfect and we all make mistakes and we all have different opinions about everything. I believe if you have a relationship with God and you need to make a decision (like getting a tattoo) you should pray about it and do what you think is the best choice for you. What is best for some people may not be what is best for others, but people should not judge them for that! Above all we should put CHRIST first, love EVERYONE and judge NO ONE!

  38. For the record Jasmine, and anyone else, Leviticus chapter 19, verse 28 is specifically dealing with the pagan religious rituals of the people living around the Israelites. The bible is very contextual.

  39. The Bible says thou shalt not judge. To the people that are saying you shouldn’t do this and you shouldn’t do that. You are judging. Our sins are by our own convictions. I have tattoos and I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ. People should worry about their own walk with God and get that right before telling people they are wrong.

  40. There is so much in Leviticus that people don’t follow. Just like what was mentioned above, foods we eat, clothes that we wear, and cutting our hair. In Leviticus 15:19 it says “And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even.” In other words, you can’t talk to a women when she’s on her period. We don’t do that either now do we. Don’t pick and choose things, it’s hypocritical.
Also from what I was to understand “cutting for the dead” didn’t mean tattoos. It’s talking about carving your body for rituals/satanisum, but thats what I saw it as. As have many other people.
I have a tattoo and I believe in God. And I know he loves me. I had a tumor for about 3 years in my brain. Small and non cancerous. But after all those years, I begain to pray over it. It was gone on my next MRI. I belonged to a church and some of the people that prayed for me had tattoo as well. He loves you. Tattooed or not. Have faith and love in the Lord. Why not focous on those commands and not judge others as it also says is wrong in the Bible in many places, like Matthew 7:1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.”
    I think I’ll stop there.

John 13:34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.“

  41. May I comment on this thread? God loves us ALL! I don’t believe he would want anyone to be arguing or upset about the passions displayed throughout this entire thread. Just my opinion and everyone is entitled to one.
