Hair fashion comes into its own in dreadlocks in which the hair is styled in awesome and creative ways. In a dreadlocks style the hair is allowed to grow, and then it is fashioned into cool dreadlocks. This style which comes down from ancient African tribes is a favorite with peace-loving souls as an expression of freedom and joy. Hippie hair fashion makes for bold expressions using dreadlocks, and both men and women can carry off these looks with confidence.
It does not matter whether your dreadlocks are blonde, dark brown, or black, you can make magic by putting into different styles. You can put up long dreadlocks into a casual updo, or simply pull them back with a hair accessory, letting the dreads hang from behind your head. The Dreadlock Hairstyles you choose also depend on the length of your dreads. If you have shoulder length dreads you can simply keep them open with a pretty mix of colorful beads in some of the dreads. You can side part your hair to let the dreadlocks flow down one shoulder. The best thing about dreadlocks is that you have so many bundles of thick and strong strands to play with, the kind you do not have in a single hair strand. So, if you are a man, you can give your dreadlocks a sexy touch by casually putting in a red ribbon. You can also wrap a red thread tight around a single dreadlock to make your hair fashion distinctive and unique. Dreadlocks make great hair fashion for both men and women, and you can use colorful hair accessories to deck up your dreads. Here are some fashionable styles for dreadlocks.

I like them all…I want dreads! Is it possible to get dreads with less than shoulder length hair? =/
Get artificial or human hair extensions and matt them with your hair or do it all natural though it’ll be short.
Dreads can be started with at least 3 inches of hair, mine was started with about 4 inches, 10 years ago,i cut 10 inches off 4 years ago and my hair is currently down past the middle of my back.
Cool I have has my dress for thirteen years now I can’t imagine life without them I’m a 30 year old female my hair is brown I keep them tied in a ponytail but put then in a braid sometimes or bun when I’m feeling lazy
They’re very long down to my lower back
Saltwater is the best for them
Never got them for attention or anything I just love the style I always wanted them got them done at 18 years old and have kept them .
I am half Polynesian half European . I wouldn’t say I’m a hippy but I do believe in love peace and harmony and I don’t mind abit if reggae :) in not a Rastafarian though. My hair is part of who I am. I can’t imagine cutting them it’s be like cutting part of my body off.

Yeah, great how you’ve only showed white people even though its a black hairstyle…
black hairstyle? Before the comb was invented everyone had dreads… Black peoples hair just dreads faster
This was a year ago, but this is just not true. White peoples silky hair DOES NOT DREAD EASILY OR NATURALLY
White people have to severely back comb or severely neglect their silky straight hair for it to lock up.
Dreads have African and Carribean origins.
I’m black and it took 9 months for my hair to dread and loc tight.
One out of 25. Damn.
A hairstyle can not be “black”. Do you view other hairstyles as “white”?
You think the “River Dreads” woman is “mature”? She looks all of 25.
What a HORRID article, most of the pics are of extensions not real dreads and/or no actual styling to it. Clearly this is targeted to idiots, not true dreadheads. They’re either down or up….oh hh look at all that style, oh and a splash of strings. GARBAGE. I’ve been growing my dreads since 2004 and they look better then this shit, probably because I don’t have strings in it, extensions, or look like a white wannabe hippie.
It’s because of crap like this and some of the comments I see here that ppl automatically assume my dreads are fake and ask dumbass questions. My hair is 100% real and naturally thick. If you can’t have natural dreads then you shouldn’t wear dreads as a style outside of maybe as a Halloween costume.
Lady get a f’n grip.
Have a nice day.
Can’t we just enjoy the art of locks, no matter what skin it’s attach to.
yes we can.
