    • you don’t usually use # when txting unless you’re talking about a number
      ex: give me her #
      but on social medias it’s usually a hashtag.

  24. Great post subject, its amazing just how many text symbals can be made from a few different characters, when you think about it, it is a very clever idea, like another language.

    • It is also called the “POUND SIGN” when dealing with weights and measures, and sometimes you may be asked on the phone to “Please enter your (whatever) and push the pound sign.” at which time you enter what they want and push that symbol.

I just noticed the other questions in the comments I also did not notice earlier, so I know some of you may have your answers now, but just incase you do not, hailey, your comment above, the symbal is a face, like a surprised I would say, or shocked, or could even be embarrased, some people use the symbals in different ways.

  53. What does ;( and D; mean? A friend of mine uses those whenever we make plans that don’t work out, so it’ll go something like “I don’t think we can hang out today ;(” and it’s a little confusing.
